Welcome to Soille Hebrew Day
Welcome from the Headmaster Rabbi Simcha Wesier

 Rabbi Simcha Weiser

My mother was unusually passionate about providing us, her children, every educational advantage.  As a Jewish mother, this meant that the single most precious gift she could give to us was an inspiring, relevant Jewish education, and so I and my siblings attended Jewish day school long before it was fashionable.

My mother’s attitude has shaped my conviction that, as Soille Hebrew Day School’s Headmster who works closely with parents to raise outstanding young men and women, it is essential that we engage each student in Torah study.  By doing so, we – parents and teachers - see young women and men graduate from Soille Hebrew Day School distinguished by their thoughtfulness, purpose, empathy and respect for others. They consistently show optimism and resilience, drawn from Torah wisdom; they find our Torah to be a well-spring of insight, a reliable source for growth and guidance, and a connection to Jewish community.  As they take their places as adults within the community they shine as leaders.

This year we have the happy vantage point of celebrating Soille Hebrew Day School’s 50th Jubilee Year.  We see verification that we have succeeded with two generations of children, and will succeed in the future.  Today, our students benefit from the time to grow, learn to care more about others, listen carefully to peers and teachers as a thoughtful friend listens, and appreciate knowing themselves - their innate talents and gifts.  This personal development, in conjunction with the rigorous academic program challenging the student to achieve excellence, provides the foundation upon which each student can construct a remarkable life of achievement and satisfaction.

As a school turning 50 we remain innovative, driven to improve, and mindful that the world around us is changing at a rapid pace.  Our faculty and staff continue to grow professionally and perfect our program.

Through innovations such as the ‘Successful Me’ program we have created, ongoing curricular improvements, careful analysis of test results and data, Soille Hebrew Day is also advancing rapidly.  We embrace imparting 21st Century skills - leaderership acumen, the ability to collaborate effectively with others, and personal strength of character reflecting eternal Jewish values and integrity.  Although we cannot predict the life-paths of our diverse student body, nor are we prophets to anticipate the work environment they will inhabit, we are certain they will pursue their dreams and endeavor to make their lasting contribution to the betterment of our world with confidence. They are fully prepared to be exemplary 21st Century citizens.

I am proud to lead Soille Hebrew Day School forward as we soar toward the future, and welcome you to join the Rabbis, teachers, lay leaders, parents and supporters who share in carrying forward this important vision.

Sincerely,

Rabbi Simcha Weiser
