Jewish Knowledge-
6th Grade
The 6th grade will study various aspects of the land of Israel. These will include the climate, geography, human resources, political system. the IDF, the economy, educational system, cities, transportation symbols and cities. This class meets once a week on Fridays.
7th Grade
We will be studying from the Prophets Samuel 2 and will learn about the rise of the power of King David and the reunification of the Jewish kingdom under King David. We will also study about the revolts towards the end of King David's reign. Girls will learn the story, plus the Jewish concepts found in the book. In Jewish law we will review all the appropriate laws for each of the holidays as well as the reason for the holidays and its particular customs. Every
Friday
the students will be given a Parasha sheet with a summary of the Parasha and a few insights into the Parasha. This sheet should be reviewed with the parents on Shabbat and brought back the following week.
8th Grade
We will be studying from the Prophets King's 1. We will learn about the death of Kind David, the reign of Solomon, the splitting of the Jewish kingdom into two and about the Prophet Elijah. The rest is the same as 7th grade J.K. from "We will complete the book. The girls will learn the story plus the Jewish concepts found in the book. We will use the book in the original text plus notes and review sheets. There will be periodic tests. In Jewish law we will review all the appropriate laws for each of the holidays as well as the reason for the holidays and its particular customs. Every
Friday
the students will be given a Parasha sheet with a summary of the Parasha and a few insights into the Parasha. This sheet should be reviewed with the parents on Shabbat and brought back the following week signed by a parent that in fact the student reviewed the Parasha with the parent.
Jewish History-
This years course of study will be the Holocaust. Through notes, discussions segments of movies we will try to understand why it happened, how it happened, why in Germany, why so many stood by and did nothing, who did come to the rescue and the aftermath. this class meets once a week on Fridays.
