Susan Weiner

For the last 25 years, Susan Weiner has been the beloved secular fifth grade teacher at Soille Hebrew Day School.   Each year she inspires her students to discover and love literature, poetry and creative writing.  But this summer, Mrs. Weiner will close the chapter on her Day School adventure as she will be retiring from teaching. Mrs. Weiner, who has been married to her husband, Edward Weiner, for 32 years, has been one of the school's favorite teachers, often making the invite list to former students Bar/Bat Mitzvahs and even weddings. With future plans to sleep in past 7 a.m. and sail off on a cruise, Mrs. Weiner's departure will surely be bittersweet.

Deborah Brookler

Without Deborah Brookler, all the fun P.T.A. sponsored activities at Soille Hebrew Day School couldn't have happened.  For the last three years Deborah has served as PTA president, helping run programs that raise funds for everything from the 8th grade trip to Israel to campus improvements. Plus she organized all the fun activities for the students to celebrate every Jewish holiday.  Even before becoming PTA president, Deborah was an involved volunteer as soon as the eldest of her four children started our school.  She was the "behind the scenes" maven who got everything done quietly and efficiently.  We could never say thank you enough for all the hours and dedication Deborah has tirelessly given our Soille Hebrew Day School.

Center for Initiatives in Jewish Education

CIJE – the Center for Initiatives in Jewish Education of the Caroline and Joseph S. Gruss Life Monument Funds, Inc., located in New York, is one of the largest donors to Jewish education institutions worldwide giving $15 million per year.  According to President Jason Cury, their mission is to upgrade the secular academics of Jewish Day Schools to create a population of students armed with the skills to face the challenges of the 21st century,   To date they have invested $170,000 in Soille Hebrew Day School by creating a Gruss Technology Lab and Learning Center and the E2K class - a middle school math and science program for high achieving students.  We are grateful for their generous support and commitment to improve the secular academics at all Jewish Day Schools.
