Middle School Mathematics

The Hebrew Day middle school math program recognizes problem-solving skills as central to learning. Coursework melds together a combination of concrete and abstract concepts. Our framework emphasizes five core skills that support long-term math achievement. Completion of our four year course will empower students to develop the critical-thinking skills, positive attitude, and confidence needed for achievement.

Our math courses are considered integrated math units, where new topics are introduced that cover Algebra , Geometry, and Data + Statistics coursework all within the same year. Each year, our course scope and sequence builds upon previously learned topics to increase retention and understanding.

Top students from our school enroll as 9th grade students into an Algebra 2 (or equivalent) course. High school course placements are based on both objective measures (test scores) and subjective measures (teacher observations of student skills and habits) to ensure the most appropriate pathway to success in high school.
